Ex-Northvolter lands €7m for new startup – becoming latest founder to emerge from fallen battery giant

Former Northvolt exec Emad Zand has brought his new startup out of stealth – and secured €7m in pre-seed funding.

The new venture aims to build a pan-European battery storage company starting in one of Europe's dirtiest economies. It is the latest of dozens of startups to be founded by Northvolt alumni.

"Northvolt for me was one of Europe's premier talent magnets," Zand tells Impact Loop, while revealing plans to raise a €50m Series A within the next 12 months.

Another former Northvolt exec has launched a battery startup.

Today, Emad Zand, former CEO of Northvolt's battery systems division, unveiled Tavion.
