Danish fund backs Wingcopter in new round to scale production: 'Europe needs tech champions'
German drone company Wingcopter has raised new funding and is entering its next phase of growth, with both strategic expansion and leadership changes underway.

German company Wingcopter, developing electric drones for deliveries and infrastructure inspections, has secured fresh funding to scale up production and expand into aerial surveying of critical infrastructure such as roads, pipelines, and power lines.
The investment comes from Copenhagen-based Nordic Secondary Fund, alongside existing shareholders and the European Investment Bank.
According to the company, the funding will support its transition to mass production of its main drone model, the Wingcopter 198, and expand its commercial footprint in both logistics and data collection.
Wingcopter cites two developments that contributed to the investment decision: progress toward obtaining certification to operate its drones commercially in the US, Brazil and Japan, and the company’s move into infrastructure-related services.
"Europe needs technology champions more than ever," said Tom Plümmer, co-founder and co-CEO of Wingcopter. "With the new financing and strengthening of our leadership team, we look to the future with confidence, firmly believing that we have the potential to become such a champion."
Wingcopter also announced changes to its management team. Dr. Bernhard Klumpp, formerly a senior leader at automotive supplier Continental, joins as co-CEO and Chief Product Officer. Tobias Jordan, previously CFO at mobility startup Dance, has been appointed Chief Financial Officer.
"We are excited to partner with Wingcopter as we share the team’s vision to drive meaningful change," said Peter Sandberg, Founding Partner and Managing Director at Nordic Secondary Fund.
Founded in 2017, Wingcopter operates in both logistics and infrastructure monitoring – two sectors where drone-based systems are seeing increased interest as industries adapt to climate and resilience demands.
