ESG software firm Position Green continues European expansion with new acquisition

Position Green has quickly become one of the leading Nordic companies within ESG software. Now it is clearly setting its sights on the rest of Europe, with the aim of building the continent’s most comprehensive platform for sustainability reporting.

Position Green has acquired leading Belgian platform Greenomy, an acquisition that comes just three weeks after it bought Norwegian carbon management startup Morescope.

”This is definitely a way for us to expand faster and more forcefully in Europe," Daniel Gadd, CEO and co-founder of Position Green, tells Impact Loop. "There are a lot of companies within ESG but we want to be one of the forces who are consolidating the market.”

Brussels-based Greenomy was founded in 2020 and specialises in CSRD, EU taxonomy and VSME reporting. It now boasts more than 400 users worldwide within several sectors, and has 45 employees.

“Our customers now get the best of both worlds: Greenomy's regulatory expertise is integrated into Position Green's rapidly growing sustainability platform,” says Marlies Gevaert, CCO of Greenomy.

It also strengthens Position Green’s presence in Brussels, the EU seat where sustainability rules are shaped.

Daniel Gadd says Greenomy is also at the forefront when it comes to using AI for sustainability reporting and bring an expanded customer base to Position Green.

Euroclear has been the majority owner in Greenomy since 2022. As part of the acquisition by Position Green, Euroclear is taking a stake in the Swedish company.

”We think it's a very positive and clear sign that they believe in what we're doing," Daniel Gadd says.
