Inside the 40 family offices quietly funding Europe’s green transition

More of Europe’s wealthiest families are channelling their generational wealth into impact companies.

We've dug into Europe's most active impact family offices – many of which are on track to deploy even more capital in 2026.

Family offices – discreet, privately run, and often sitting on vast fortunes – are quietly becoming some of Europe’s most active impact investors.
Unlike VCs, they offer patient capital – a potential lifeline for capital-intensive climate tech startups.
Traditionally, family offices have taken a back seat, investing through venture funds. But a growing number are now going direct, driven in part by a younger generation of heirs with stronger sustainability leanings.
Impact Loop has identified 40 Europe-based family offices currently investing directly in impact startups and on track to invest more in 2026.
