Meet the brothers bringing a digital revolution to Europe's €10 billion bus market

The European second-hand bus market is massive – over 100,000 vehicles change hands every year. But the process has long been stuck in the early 2000s: fragmented, opaque, and heavily broker-driven.

Enter Fleequid, a Milan-based startup founded by brothers Filippo and Federico Battaglia, who are betting that this sleepy B2B market is finally ready for digitisation. The company has just raised €3 million in seed funding to build what they call a much-needed "operating system" for used bus transactions, reports Tech EU.

"We’ve been in this world for 13 years," Filippo Battaglia tells Tech EU. "We know the players, we know the pain points, and we know how much value is lost in the current system. We built Fleequid to change that."

The platform allows sellers to upload buses with full dossiers – photos, technical inspections, and more – while buyers participate in open online auctions.

'Insiders'

The seed round was led by DFF Ventures, with backing from Silence VC, FJ Labs, and angel investor Jack Greco (co-founder of ACV Auctions).

"The Battaglia brothers are insiders who’ve decided to disrupt their own industry, and they’ve done it with the kind of execution and grit we love to back," Maarten Engelen, partner at DFF, tells Tech EU.
