Dutch food tech startup Revyve secures €24m to turn beer waste into alt eggs
Dutch foodtech scale-up Revyve is betting that yeast from the brewary industry can replace eggs at scale.<br><br>With €24m in new funding, the company aims to expand production and test whether this sustainable approach can catch on globally.
Dutch company Revyve has reportedly secured €24m in Series B funding, bringing its total capital raised to over €40m.
The investment is expected to support the commercial rollout of its functional yeast proteins, which aim to replace eggs and additives in products such as bakery, sauces, plant-based dairy, and alternative meat.
The yeast is produced using brewer’s waste as a raw material, potentially turning a byproduct of the beer industry into a more sustainable protein source.
Revyve’s technology is intended to help food manufacturers address rising egg costs, reduce ultra-processed ingredients, and meet sustainability targets, according to CEO Cedric Verstraeten.
The round was co-led by ABN AMRO Sustainable Impact Fund and Invest-NL, with regional support from BOM and strategic backing from Lallemand Bio-Ingredients and Grey Silo Ventures. Existing investors Oost NL and Royal Cosun also participated.
The company plans to expand production at its Dinteloord facility in the Netherlands to over 1,600 tons per year and says it aims to reach customers across Europe, North America, and Australia.
