Smarter cities, cleaner air and AI: 10 startups driving the future of urban mobility
From Barcelona to Berlin, the race is on to make transport cleaner, smarter, and more connected.

As Europe’s leading sustainable mobility event, Tomorrow.Mobility, approaches, we’re putting the spotlight on ten of the continent’s most exciting startups attending this year.
Europe’s biggest sustainable mobility event, Tomorrow.Mobility World Congress (TMWC), is less than a week away – arriving at a moment when the conversation on how we move is more urgent than ever.
Returning to Barcelona from 4-6 November 2025, Tomorrow.Mobility marks its fifth and most ambitious edition yet. Co-organised by Fira Barcelona and EIT Urban Mobility, an organisation committed to accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility (more below), the event will host over 200 exhibitors and 240 speakers, all gathered under this year’s theme: Move Better.
The lineup includes David Zipper, Senior Fellow at the MIT Mobility Initiative, Marc Rozendal, CEO of EIT Urban Mobility, and Karen Vancluysen, Secretary General of POLIS – each tackling the urgent question of how to design mobility systems that are not only efficient but equitable and low-emission.
Hundreds of startups will converge on Barcelona next week to tackle urban transport’s biggest challenges. Here are ten to watch.
10 mobility startups to watch (and meet)
Arxax (UK)
Builds a digitally connected network of zero- and low-carbon refuelling stations for heavy-duty vehicles. Using Big Data and IoT, Arxax enables fleet operators to transition toward green logistics without sacrificing performance. Meet them: Visit their pod in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
Beev (France)
A one-stop solution for individuals and businesses to switch to electric vehicles, offering leasing of multi-brand EVs alongside installation and management of charging infrastructure. Meet them: On stage as speakers during TMWC sessions. More here.
Everimpact (France)
Uses a blend of satellite data, ground sensors, and AI to measure greenhouse gas emissions for cities and businesses in near-real-time. It then helps its clients identify opportunities to reduce emissions and access financing. Meet them: Visit their pod in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
Hydros Power (Spain)
Develops scalable hydrogen solutions for high-usage fleets such as buses and logistics vehicles, accelerating the shift to cleaner city transport. Meet them: Visit their pod and demo in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
Meight (Portugal)
Analyses millions of journeys to predict driver behaviour in real time, optimising fuel use and safety. The result: smoother journeys, lower emissions, and smarter data-driven logistics. Meet them: On stage as speakers during TMWC sessions. More here.
NOWOS (Netherlands)
By repairing and reusing lithium-ion batteries instead of discarding them, NOWOS helps reduce waste, extend battery lifespan, and preserve critical resources in the energy transition. Meet them: Visit their pod in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
Nudgd (Sweden)
Uses behavioural science to nudge people toward greener travel choices. Its SaaS platform helps organisations and communities encourage shifts from private cars to walking, cycling, or public transport – one small habit at a time. Meet them: On stage as speakers during TMWC sessions. More here.
PANTOhealth (Germany)
Through simulation software and IoT, PANTOhealth monitors, simulates, predicts and plans maintenance wear in pantographs and catenaries – ensuring smoother operations and reducing maintenance costs for rail operators. Meet them: Visit their pod and demo in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
Standab (Sweden)
As micromobility expands, so do charging challenges. Standab tackles this with modular, operator-neutral charging hubs deployed through a cost-neutral Charging-as-a-Service model – simplifying urban parking and power infrastructure for scooters and bikes. Meet them: See their demo at the EIT Urban Mobility booth. More here.
SWITCH (Italy)
Brings AI-driven simulation to the logistics space. Its platform helps companies plan and manage fleets more efficiently by predicting demand, optimising routes, and cutting down operational waste across urban transport networks. Meet them: Visit their pod in the Innovation Playground and catch their 5-minute pitch on Thursday, 6 November. More here.
